Why we celebrate International Friendship Day...

We all value friendship and treasure those closest to us. A good friend is a companion and a confidante. He/She provides support, comfort, and advice without being judgmental. It is for these reasons that we celebrate Friendship Day.

More on Friendship Bracelets...

One way to nurture a friendship is by giving small, inexpensive gifts. The present does not have to be a major event, but just a small token to let your pal know you were thinking of them. Friendship bracelets make the perfect type of offering for this, or as part of another present.

Well, we have shared with you that Friendship Bracelets are given from one friend to another on International Friendship Day. Also, we have shared with you how to tie a Friendship Bracelet.

Now, I am going to tell you more on Friendship Bracelets, and some other ways of using the bracelet.

What are the Friendship bracelets made of?

They were generally made from string or embroidery floss, with plenty of different colours and even a few beads.

Some ways to use the bracelet:

-In an envelope, along with a small note.

-On top of a present, as part of your greetings card.

Make use of the bracelet, and put it into other uses!

Camera Strap: Personalize the gift of a camera by weaving a friendship bracelet to use in place of the strap.

Hand phone: Put a friendship bracelet on it as a decoration.

Key Chain: The bracelet can then be worn or used as part of the keychain.

Bookmark: Sharing a favorite book just got better! Make a friendship bracelet that your pal can use as a bookmark.

What are the ways to celebrate International Friendship Day?

Ways. What ways? Haha have you been thinking how to celebrate International Friendship Day every year? I bet you guys will rather go out instead of staring at your phones on social media. Why not head out and enjoy this special occasion with your friends! :)

Do give your friends the attention they deserve, Friendship Day (the first Sunday in August every year) does serve as a reminder to honour the wonderful friendships in your life. Friendship Day celebrations can vary from small gifts and greetings to a night out on the town. Here are four ways to help you celebrate Friendship Day if you have no idea how.
 1. Friendship Bracelets
Friendship bracelets are bracelets that serve as a symbol of friendship love. Probably taking out some private time to make a friendship bracelet for your friend might touched them with your time and effort in making the bracelet. Not only that, it might also brighten up their day! :)
 2. Thoughtful Notes and Messages
The spirit of Friendship Day is about honoring your pals, but that doesn't mean the gesture needs to be complicated or involved. You guys may post a video link of a meaningful song to their Facebook wall or even create a video consolidating all the wonderful moments you guys had together. Or you can try to write out a few special memories on small pieces of paper, and put them all in a jar. Your friend can pull out a note each week! :)
3. Small Gifts
Giving an inexpensive gift is another way to celebrate Friendship Day. For this occasion, a small but thoughtful present can make an even greater impact than one that costs a lot of money. Several old pictures of you in a digital frame so your friend can reflect back on the years you've been pals. This is an especially good gift if your friendship has some history, since changing hairstyles alone are enough to bring about a smile! :)
 4. Keep the Spirit of Friendship Day All Year
The best way to celebrate Friendship Day? Make sure the spirit of the day stays with you throughout the year. Nurture your friendship continually, resolve conflicts quickly, and make sure you devote the time needed to make a friendship successful even when you're busy. Friendship Day is a reminder that friends are an important part of a healthy, happy life, so carry that thought with you and let it show in your actions! :)

Last but not least, do treasure your friendship well! :)

International Friendship Day in Singapore...

Do Singapore commemorate International Friendship Day?

Yes, Singapore do commemorate International Friendship Day.

When will we be commemorating it?

Singapore will be commemorating International Friendship Day on 4th of April this year (2014).

Why do Singapore want to commemorate International Friendship Day?

Singapore commemorate International Friendship Day so as to understand the importance of good relations with our neighbours and beyond.  More importantly, to let us know that such relations cannot be taken for granted.

On top of that, Singapore pursues an active engagement in the world as diplomacy, like deterrence, is a key means by which we can ensure our security.  This is evidenced by our membership in many international organisations such as ASEAN and the United Nations.

In Conclusion for this post,

Singapore commemorate International Friendship Day, so that students can help to build a gracious Singapore by being gracious and respectful towards one another, and towards others. And also, to not take the relations between countries, friends, and schoolmates, we have for granted.

Introducing International Friendship Day...

Friends? Why do we need friends?

Do you know that friendship can actually lead to a longer and happier life ?! Isn't it amazing?  :)

  • A 2004 Australian study conducted over a 10-year period concluded that among older people, those with large groups of friends were 22 percent less likely to die before those with a smaller group of friends.
  • In 2008, a Harvard study found that strong friendships had a positive effect on brain health as we age. As well as practical benefits, fulfilling friendships have a positive impact on our psychological well-being.

And thus ... We celebrate International Friendship day!

  • Friendship is an integral part of our lives and our happiness. Friends come in all shapes and sizes and offer different things. Some friendships are forged in childhood, when individuals often make lifelong friends. These friends can be turned to in times of crisis and celebration, such as the death of a loved one or a happy occasion such as a wedding. Others are cemented at college and university when people traditionally begin to widen their social circle and incorporate friendships through shared interests. We rely on friends as well as family for support, companionship and advice at various stages of our lives.

REMEMBER!

Friendship helps to bring peace and positivity to the globe – a great reason to celebrate AND it only occurs once a year – so make the most of it !  Pull out all the stops and let your friends know they are truly appreciated!
